Andreas Paeslack

* 1966 Weimar, Germany

1990-91 Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst, Leipzig. 1991-1999 University of Fine Arts in Dresden (Diploma summa cum laude 1997). Since 1990 conceptions and implementation of numerous projects in the institutional and public space with cooperative, participatory character and critical local references. In his work Paeslack broaches the prevailing reception of art as a result of the functional agreements in society and their interpretations, definitions, understandings and value generating. He combines his artistic practice with theoretical reflection, research and social work processes. Editor and author of numerous publications. Lecturer at the Bauhaus University Weimar and the Humboldt University of Berlin ("Art as a method," "The art specific difference," "In the name of art", "Art as epistemology). The artist lives in Berlin.
