The multiples belongs to the work group of the ”Gesellschaft zur Verwertung und Erhaltung der Idee des Pfennigs A.G.“ (society for the salvage and conservation of the idea of the German Penny). Created by Vollrad Kutscher in 1970. In 2001 the German Penny was interred in its own burial place in Frankfurt am Main (opposite the Deutsche Bank), where Chairmen Vollrad and Kutscher give an annual commemorative speech. In 2002 the G.V.E.I.P. changed to the EUROPAN (entered in the German patent and trademark register) and materialised in the form of EUROPAN cookies which, as a floating currency, are always freshly baked.
